Hello! My name is Ms. Cameron, and I am a licensed speech-language pathologist and educator with a strong background in early childhood and elementary education. With a passion for supporting students of all abilities, I’ve been working in education for over a decade—first as a classroom teacher and now as a school-based SLP within Chicago Public Schools since 2014.
My experience spans Pre-K through high school, with a focus on early elementary learners. I specialize in language arts, literacy development, phonological and phonemic awareness, executive functioning, and functional language across academic areas. I have extensive experience supporting students with a wide range of learning needs, including those with speech-language impairments, developmental delays, ADHD, autism, and other low-incidence disabilities.
I hold a Master of Health Sciences in Communication Disorders, a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education, and bachelor’s degrees in both Psychology and Sociology. I am ASHA certified (CCC-SLP/L) and hold an Illinois Type 04 Teaching License. Additionally, I have training in phonics-based reading instruction, Reggio Emilia, beginner ASL, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
Before becoming an SLP, I was a lead teacher and education coordinator for early childhood programs and a long-term substitute teacher in middle and high school. I taught a variety of subjects, including language arts, math, science, social studies, and Spanish. This diverse experience helped me meet students where they are and design learning that feels personal and purposeful.
My teaching style is student-centered, rooted in growth mindset and reflection. I love celebrating students’ strengths and interests while helping them acquire new skills in fun, functional ways that they can carry into everyday life. I’m known for putting the fun in functional, assisting students to build confidence and independence while learning.
Outside of tutoring, I love running, hiking, biking, and meeting every dog I pass! I’ve run four marathons and countless half-marathons, and I dream of one day owning a home in the Mediterranean.
My goal is to help students develop skills that are academically meaningful and support their growth, confidence, and success in all areas of life. I look forward to partnering with your family and being part of your child’s educational journey!
