Mr. Joshua

Hello! My name is Mr. Joshua. I currently work remotely as a hydrometeorologist for RTI International, where I analyze data and study atmospheric patterns. While I’m not one of the meteorologists you see on TV, my work is essential to understanding weather and climate trends.

I grew up in Solon, Ohio, a suburb outside of Cleveland. I began my educational journey at Case Western Reserve University, majoring in physics with minors in astronomy and geological sciences. My love for puzzles and problem-solving drew me to physics, where curiosity and logic come together to explain how the world works. My passion for climate and weather systems led me to continue my studies at Johns Hopkins University, where I earned a master’s degree in atmospheric science.

My professional experience includes working as a student technician at Think[box], a prototyping facility in Cleveland, where I helped individuals—children and adults—navigate tools like 3D printers and laser cutters to bring their creative ideas to life. This experience taught me the importance of clear communication and adapting explanations to different audiences. As a graduate teaching assistant, I guided students through challenging ocean dynamics and atmospheric physics concepts, helping them break down complex ideas in ways that made science more accessible and engaging. Through this role, I also learned the value of patience and individualized support, ensuring every student had the time and space to grasp the material truly.

Outside work, I enjoy video games, exercising, and all types of puzzles, from jigsaw to Sudoku to cryptograms. Problem-solving has always been a part of my life, and I love finding creative ways to bring this mindset into my teaching.

At JAM, I apply my communication skills and deep knowledge of math and physics to help students build confidence in their abilities. Learning should be an exciting and rewarding process, and I work to ensure that students feel supported every step of the way. I look forward to building relationships with students and families and am excited to embark on this learning journey together!
