Hi There! My name is Ms. Alexis, and I am a third-grade teacher in Minooka District 201. I grew up in Naperville, but I now live in Woodridge. I graduated with my bachelor's degree from Illinois State University in Elementary Education and a Reading Endorsement. I am in school at the University of St. Francis to get my master's in Best Practices in Elementary Education, finishing in December 2024.I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. Since starting to work at 15, I have had jobs related to working with kids. I've been a camp counselor, camp director, before- and after-school supervisor, homeschool tutor/ online tutor, teacher, volleyball coach, and many other jobs. I have loved every single one and have learned so much along the way. Being an educator is one of the most important roles to me. Kids are capable of so much more than they are given credit for. In my classroom, every student feels safe and heard and that they can take risks and learn from mistakes. Learning is also fun, engaging, and customized at each student's instructional level. Likewise, instruction is individualized to meet each student's needs and goals. I am a lifelong learner who is always looking to improve my craft by reading the latest research and taking any professional development courses offered to help me be a better educator for my students. Outside of teaching, I love to go on runs and hikes and snuggle with my cats. I also love spending time with my family and my fiancé. I am so excited to begin working with JAM Teaching and Consulting and get the opportunity to help prospective students meet and go above and beyond all of their goals!
