Hello! My name is Ms. Dorothy, and I am currently a third-grade teacher in the Chicago Public Schools. I grew up in the western suburb of Oak Park and attended college in St. Paul, Minnesota, where I studied Education and Geography. I became a private tutor for students with differentiated learning needs until I graduated from college and began my teaching career in New York City in 2017. During this time, I returned to school to get my Master’s Degree in Teaching. I moved back to the Midwest in 2020 and have taught in CPS ever since. I am currently working on executive functioning skills with the students I tutor. I’m excited to be able to bring my expertise to JAM students and families. I believe one-on-one tutoring is the best way to address learning gaps and develop student confidence.
When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy listening to podcasts while I walk around the city, throwing pots in the ceramic studio, and cuddling with my two cats, Archie and Pearl.
