Hi There! My name is Ms. Jen, and I am currently a sixth-grade teacher. This is my tenth year teaching. I grew up and graduated from high school in a small town in Michigan. I then attended Michigan State University, receiving my Bachelor’s and Master’s of Education. I love spending time with family, friends, and my two cats. I truly love the outdoors and enjoy reading in the sun.
I aim to relate to every student as a unique individual and a part of our family of learners. I have taken many specialized courses to best support the students who may be learning a language or struggling in school. I enjoy using my Spanish skills, sharing strategies with co-workers, and learning alongside the students in the classroom. I work to foster a hands-on learning environment where students are respected, engaged in their work, and surrounded by a supportive class “family.” My enthusiasm is contagious and is something that students are driven to imitate.
I pride myself on my desire to continue learning and the hours spent improving myself. I recently finished the Reading Teacher Endorsement work through NEIU to support my reading students better. I work to ensure that I use best practices and strategies in my classroom so all learners can grow. My largest goal for my students is to love to read by the time they leave my classroom.
I am eager to begin working with JAM teaching and look forward to working with the JAM team and JAM students.
