Hi Chicago families! My name is Ms. Jess, and I am currently a Kindergarten teacher in the West Loop. I am originally from Detroit and moved to Chicago shortly after graduating from the University of Michigan. Go Blue! While teaching Junior Kindergarten at a reggio-emilia-inspired preschool downtown, I returned to get my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at DePaul University in Lincoln Park. My favorite thing about teaching is building close-knit relationships with my students and establishing successful partnerships with their families. Providing a safe space where my students feel encouraged to make mistakes to grow is very important to me. While my goal as a tutor is to help make a change for students academically, it is equally important to me to empower students to be everyday problem solvers.
When I am not teaching, you can find me hanging out with friends and family, baking, and trying all the newest pizza places in Chicago! I am so excited to work with many knowledgeable colleagues at JAM and collaborate with other educators to best support various learning styles.
