Hello, Families! My name is Ms. Jessica, and I am thrilled to be part of the JAM Teaching and Consulting team. I currently work as a Program Manager at a math center.
I was raised in Pendleton, Oregon, and Spokane, Washington. My educational journey began at Evergreen State College, where I majored in Humanities. Intrigued by brain science and how learning happens, I continued my education and received my K-8 Teaching Certificate and Master of Arts in Education from Antioch University in Seattle.
My professional experience includes elementary school teaching and cooperative preschool teaching and directing, which led me to a deep passion for early childhood education and family support. I'm exceptionally skilled in supporting students with social-emotional learning, learning to read and growing as a reader, and having fun with math concepts.
Outside the classroom, I love to walk and play with my dogs, read fiction and nonfiction, and travel. These activities give me a well-rounded perspective in my teaching approach.
A guiding quote encapsulating my teaching philosophy is, "When a flower doesn't bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower." This underscores my commitment to individualized teaching, as I recognize that every child is unique in their learning needs.
At JAM, I'm excited to apply my versatile teaching strategies to support the whole child—academically, emotionally, and socially. I am committed to building strong relationships with families and becoming a valuable resource in your child's educational journey. I can't wait to learn together!
