Hi, I’m Miriam! I’m a proud Clevelander, where I grew up for 18 years before attending Syracuse University in New York. After college, I joined Teach for America and received my Master’s Degree in Teaching. I have lived in Chicago for seven years now and have worked as a literacy specialist, classroom teacher, an Academic Coach, and Curriculum Specialist. I am currently a literacy specialist at a school in North Lawndale where I support the most developing readers through intervention. I am Orton-Gillingham trained and am currently in school pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Education, specializing in reading and literacy.
When I am not teaching, I love working out, reading, hanging out with my friends, traveling, and enjoying Chicago’s food and bar scene. I am often traveling on weekends to see my seven siblings and five nieces and nephews, whom I adore!
I love working with students in small groups or individual settings because of the ability to form strong relationships and to see observable academic accomplishments. I am passionate about bringing the world of learning to your child and expanding their abilities.. I look forward to the opportunity to work with your family!
