Hi there! I'm Ms. Veronica, and my passion for Special Education runs deep. I'm currently part of a curriculum company that supports Chicago Public Schools with its literacy intervention. But my journey in this field started long before that. For 18 years, I was in the trenches of Special Education in Chicago Schools, both public and charter, with a focus on elementary K-8 schools. I'm proud to be a National Board Certified Teacher (twice achieved) as an Exceptional Needs Specialist. In my most recent role, I was a Director of Special Education, Case Manager, and MTSS Coordinator. I also hold endorsements as an ESL bilingual teacher, a reading teacher, and I'm a Level 1 Wilson Certified Dyslexia Practitioner. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin—Madison and my Master's in Instructional Studies at the University of Illinois—Chicago. I am working towards completing my coursework as a Reading Specialist. I currently live in Oak Park, IL, with my husband and son, Dylan (11), along with Otis (4), who is a Certified Therapy Dog, and I am his handler, and a chunky cat, Lucky (13). Lucky mostly hides from Otis as Otis loves to chase him. As a family, we enjoy cooking, baking, running, spending time outdoors, and supporting Dylan with his many activities. (Soccer, Basketball, Music). We love to travel when we can and hope to revisit family in Chile soon. As an educator, I am committed to lifelong learning. I strive to stay current with the most up-to-date educational practices, incorporating various instructional strategies to support every student I teach. I am thrilled to embark on my journey with JAM Teaching and Consulting and look forward to being a partner in your child’s educational journey.
