IEP 🆚 504

This question leaves some of the best educators needing clarification. Many assumptions exist, but we’re here to break them down so everyone can understand. IEP and 504 plans exist to ensure all children with disabilities have access to education.

An IEP is a school-based plan that includes goals and objectives implemented by a special education teacher and other related service providers. The instruction and services are tailored to the child.

A 504 is a plan that ensures an individual cannot be discriminated against due to disability. These plans provide support and accommodations to successfully function in and access the school environment.
