Some children need to build their confidence and gain some momentum before they can motivates. External motivators are things like: a trip to the movies when they reach their goals! Breakfast in bed to celebrate their successes. A playdate with a handful of good friends. Some $$$ when they accomplish something great.
Tips from our tutors and educational consultants:
⭐ Plan ahead. Make the expectations clear so that your child can feel successful.
⭐ Make their learning and progress visible so that they can track how they are doing and take an interest in the process.
⭐ Keep your word, and stay consistent. If you promised a trip to the movies when they got a good mark on a test, take them to the movies that weekend.
⭐ Discuss motivators together! Feel out what their "currency" is and lean into it!
